While every effort is made to avoid cross-contamination, we suggest that those with severe dietary allergies avoid our products.
Where do you ship?We ship nationwide, including all 50 US states!
Do you ship to warm climates?Chocolate is very sensitive to warm temperature, so we take care to include a cold pack and reflective insulated wrap for all packages destined to warm locations. This is included in our current 2-3 day priority mail shipping rates, but if highs are predicted above 70, we cannot guarantee that your order will not arrive heat damaged or melted. It is just as important to us as it is for you that your product arrive in the best shape possible! If overnight shipping is necessary, we may reach out to you to offer faster shipping options, or give you the option to cancel your order.
How should I store my chocolates?First of all, do not store them in the refrigerator! If you're going to eat them within the suggested two weeks, it's best to keep your chocolates in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Ideally you would like to store them some place no warmer than about 68F.
Compared to other available chocolates, why are your prices so high? Our small-batch chocolates are made entirely by hand in a 3-day process. First the molds are washed and polished to a brilliant shine, then the molds are lovingly hand-painted with colored cocoa butter. Next the chocolate is tempered and the shells are formed. We then fill the shells with ganaches or caramels made with the highest-quality ingredients, allow them to set, then cap them. The final step involves unmolding these yummy gems and boxing them to order. This is a lengthy process, but at Formosa Chocolates, we do not believe in taking shortcuts. Try for yourself, and we think you will agree that the end results are worth it!
How do you get that shine?Impeccably polished molds, perfectly tempered cocoa butter and chocolate. Sometimes a bit of luck. That's it!
How long do Formosa Chocolates keep? All of our bonbons are best consumed within 2 weeks of receipt, as they are made using fresh ingredients and no preservatives.
Do you have a brick and mortar location? Not yet, but we hope to have one by late 2020 or early 2021! Our commercial kitchen is in Berkeley, and we offer local pickup options there or in Emeryville for free with prior notice.
